If there is no insurance and the judgment against the owner or driver by a court in Hong Kong is not satisfied within 28 days, MIB will settle the judgment.
When the vehicle involved is untraceable, the Bureau may consider to make ex-gratia payments to the victims.
The Bureau will accept liability for third party claims unsettled because of the insolvency of an insurance company.
The Bureau does not accept liability for any claims relating to insured's property damage.
You should write to the Bureau if you have difficulty in obtaining settlement. You must write before or within 7 days after the commencement of any proceedings to which the Bureau may become a party.
